Swing Into Summer Safety, presented by Allstate, is a joint initiative between the Ontario Fire Safety Council and the Blue Jays designed to help educate children and youth regarding fire safety. In 2014, "Honourary Fire Chief" Steve Delabar will visit residents of the burn unit at the Hospital for Sick Children, as well as a fire hall selected by Toronto Fire Services in August. At the Fire Hall, Delabar will meet with children, youth, and firefighters, to speak about the importance of fire safety. Additionally, the Blue Jays will host a community BBQ at the event featuring inflatables and games.
On June 11, the Blue Jays will host Swing Into Summer Safety Day at Rogers Centre. The first 20,000 fans will receive a 2014 Blue Jays Team Card Set, presented by Allstate – sets of baseball cards with fire safety tips – upon entrance to the games by local firefighters from Toronto Fire Services. Additionally, more than 100,000 sets of cards will be distributed among fire halls throughout Ontario. Children and youth from Camp Bucko, a camp for children recovering from burn injuries will be hosted in the Jays Care Community Clubhouse that day.Buy Tickets
