• Selected by the Dodgers in the ninth round of the 1973 draft and then by the Red Sox in the first round of the 1974 draft.
• Played for only the Red Sox over his 13-year career, compiling a 115-97 record with a 3.64 ERA... Also recorded 693 strikeouts, 21 complete games, seven shutouts, 132 saves, 1707 innings over 637 games (85 as a starter).
• Was the Red Sox all-time saves leader (132) until he was passed by Jonathan Papelbon... He remains the all-time leader in appearances for Boston (637) and is a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame since 2000.
• His best season came in 1983 when he led the Sox with 33 saves and posted a 2.45 ERA.

• Began his coaching career in 2012 as the pitching coach for Las Vegas (AAA) before assuming the same role in 2013 for Buffalo (AAA).
• Will be his first season at the Major League level in 2014.
