Rays PLAY Initiative

Sam Fuld along with head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield and his staff teamed up for the annual PLAY campaign. The Rays invited local youth out to the event from YMCA Suncoast, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast, Happy Workers Children's Center, Devereux Kids, Carlton Manor, Burg Baseball, Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast, and TASCO to participate in a morning of exercise and fun. Children in attendance learned about healthy living, making the right decisions, exercise and activity.

PLAY stands for Promoting a Lifetime of Activity for Youth

PLAY is a public awareness campaign of the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society® (PBATS), in conjunction with the Taylor Hooton Foundation (www.TaylorHooton.org) and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation (www.RipkenFoundation.org). PLAY utilizes the celebrity appeal of Major League Baseball and expertise of professional athletic trainers to encourage kids to live healthy lifestyles.
