Young lefty Dallas Braden coasted through 7 1/3 innings, giving up one run on five hits, but the A's bats couldn't support him with any runs, as their one chance to score -- Mark Ellis, on a double from Ryan Sweeney in the top of the third -- was thrown out at the plate.
