Mike Mussina continued his strong start to 2006, pitching 7 1/3 innings of one-run, seven-hit ball before giving way to Kyle Farnsworth and Mariano Rivera to seal the win. Alex Rodriguez drilled his fifth homer to open the scoring, and Jorge Posada added a run-scoring single.

Ted Lilly and the Jays' bullpen was effective vs. New York's high-octane lineup, but Toronto was unable to get going offensively on Wednesday. Vernon Wells' RBI single accounted for the Blue Jays' sole run, and Lilly picked up the loss after allowing two runs and seven hits in five innings.
