Brewers manager Ron Roenicke challenged the call by first-base umpire C.B. Bucknor. The call was overturned and Lutz was ruled out.

9/14/2014 | Brewers pound Reds, keep pace in Wild Card race

Matt Garza continued his dominance of the Reds and late-season callup Matt Clark belted his third home run in five days to pace the Brewers to a 9-2 victory Sunday as Milwaukee kept pace for the second NL Wild Card spot. The Brewers remained 1 1/2 games behind the Pirates and five back of the NL Central-leading Cardinals.

9/13/2014 | Crew musters just two hits, stalling playoff climb

Reds rookie David Holmberg, who entered the game with an 8.25 ERA, held the Brewers to just two hits over six innings, and Yovani Gallardo's bout of wildness helped the Reds to a 5-1 victory on Saturday night. Milwaukee remained 1 1/2 games out of the second Wild Card spot after the Pirates lost to the Cubs.

9/12/2014 | Brewers reach out to Marlins, look to move on from incident

Brewers manager Ron Roenicke and pitcher Mike Fiers reiterated Friday that the pitch that hit slugger Giancarlo Stanton and caused severe facial injuries to the Marlins star was an accident, and both of them have tried to get in touch with Miami manager Mike Redmond.

9/12/2014 | Gallardo aims to bounce back in big game for Crew

With just 14 games remaining, the Brewers -- who led the National League Central for 150 of 166 days -- face a four-game deficit in the division and trail the Pirates by 1 1/2 games for the second NL Wild Card spot. 9/12/2014 | As tempers cool, Fish, Crew show concern for Stanton

Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers fought tears from the moment he began discussing the 88-mph fastball that sailed high and tight, striking Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton on his left cheekbone. Stanton, a leading contender for the National League MVP Award, suffered multiple facial fractures, dental damage and a laceration that required stitches as a result of a chilling moment in the fifth inning of Wednesday's 4-2 Brewers win over the Marlins at Miller Park. Stanton remained hospitalized in Milwaukee overnight.

9/12/2014 | Awful accident quickly escalates

Three things stemming from Thursday's Marlins-Brewers contest are clear: Everyone hopes for a full recovery for Miami's Giancarlo Stanton, there's no way Milwaukee's Mike Fiers intentionally hit him with a pitch and, thirdly, the game got crazy after that.

9/10/2014 | Brewers need Fiers to remain hot against Marlins

Mike Fiers appears to be the only Brewers hurler who can win lately. Milwaukee has won only five of its past 21 games, and Fiers owns three of those victories. The Crew needs Fiers to triumph again as he faces the Marlins on Thursday night at Miller Park -- and win a few more after that -- if the club has plans of either snagging one of the National League's two Wild Card spots or gaining ground in the NL Central race.
