6/25/2016 | Tribe on 8-0 roll, builds a 5-game bulge

Another day, another Indians win over the Tigers. Carlos Carrasco threw a four-hit shutout and Cleveland beat Detroit, 6-0, on Saturday at Comerica Park to move to 8-0 on the season against its division rival. The Tribe also won its eighth straight game.

6/25/2016 | Chat with Pujols sparks change for McCann

A tip from one of this era's greatest hitters has turned things around for Tigers catcher James McCann. During a loss to the Angels on May 31 in Anaheim, McCann drew a walk, and Angels first baseman Albert Pujols noted to the 26-year-old catcher that his lead foot was slow. So McCann worked with Tigers hitting coach Wally Joyner on two days off and got rid of the leg kick in his swing.

The milestones keep coming for Yoan Moncada. The No. 5 overall prospect connected on his first Double-A home run on Friday night as part of another multi-hit performance, but it wasn't enough to keep Portland from losing to Reading, 11-3. Moncada's homer, a solo shot in the fourth inning, was his fifth of the season.

6/24/2016 | Zimmermann off the mark 'from the get-go'

Jordan Zimmermann and Mike Pelfrey were National League East opponents for a few years with their original clubs, but they've become relatively good friends in the Tigers' clubhouse. 6/24/2016 | Norris, Anibal going through audition of sorts

Daniel Norris was asked after his start Thursday about the frustration level of his outing -- not so much the back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning, but the fact that his first start as a Tiger this season wasn't until late June. Anibal Sanchez was asked Friday, the day before his first start in a month, about getting a chance to prove himself again in the rotation. It's not clear yet with either when that next chance might happen.

6/23/2016 | Ausmus, Tigers pull out all the stops in extras

The Tigers had used every available position player. The Mariners had used every available reliever, though they had starter Nathan Karns available in a pinch. With the chance at a series sweep and Mariners closer Steve Cishek headed toward 40 pitches Thursday, the Tigers went for it in the 10th -- pinch-hitting with Victor Martinez, pinch-running with Cameron Maybin and Mike Aviles.
