Injured Dickey, Lind listed day to day

Starter leaves with right groin tightness; DH has right foot contusion

BALTIMORE -- Blue Jays right-hander R.A. Dickey was buzzing along in the seventh inning until a right groin strain forced him from the Blue Jays' 3-2 loss to the Orioles.

With Toronto trailing 3-1 and no one on with two outs in the seventh, the injury became apparent. He tried one warmup throw and opted to leave the game with 99 pitches.

"I didn't want to jeopardize my next start," Dickey said. "I was probably out of the game right after that next batter, anyway."

The starting pitcher said he's never dealt with that sort of injury, so he isn't exactly sure how bad it might be, but he is optimistic. He said he wasn't feeling too much pain, and was just being cautious.

Toronto has an off-day on Monday that will push back everyone in the starting rotation one day. That will give Dickey some extra time to recover.

Half an inning later, Adam Lind also left the game with a right foot contusion. Catcher Dioner Navarro pinch-hit for Lind during the top of the eighth inning after the first baseman fouled a pitch off his right foot during the sixth inning. He wasn't wearing a foot guard or shin guard when he suffered the injury.

Lind had X-rays after the game which were negative. His status for Sunday's series finale against the O's has yet to be determined.

"It's just a bone bruise," Lind said. "Hopefully I wake up tomorrow and it'll be fine."
