Edwin Encarnacion named Honda Player of the Month
TORONTO BLUE JAYS 1B EDWIN ENCARNACION has been named the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for September by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA. Honda, the official vehicle of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charity of Edwin’s choosing.
ENCARNACION, 29, earned his third award and second consecutive this season winning by a unanimous vote. The right-handed hitter batted .238 with a team leading seven home runs and 20 RBI. The native of La Romana, Dominican Republic now ranks 4th in the AL and 7th in the Major Leagues with a .941 OPS on the season.
SS Adeiny Hechavarria (.295, 1HR, 9RBI), 1B Adam Lind (.277, 2HR, 14RBI), RHP Steve Delabar (3.75 ERA, 17K/12.0IP), RHP Brandon Morrow (2.41 ERA, 24K/18.2IP) and RHP Henderson Alvarez (4.38 ERA) all received votes.
