Blue Jays complete Minor League appointments

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS announce the following coaching appointments to complete their Minor League system for the upcoming 2009 season.
MIKE BASSO will manage the LAS VEGAS 51s in the Blue Jays' inaugural season in the Pacific Coast League. JOHN SCHNEIDER will take over the Gulf Coast entry as a first time manager. All other managers will return at the helm of their respective clubs including GARY CATHCART in New Hampshire, OMAR MALAVE in Dunedin, CLAYTON MCCULLOUGH in Lansing, and DENNIS HOLMBERG in Auburn.
DANE JOHNSON will return as the Roving Pitching Coach, while former Blue Jay CHAD MOTTOLA continues his coaching career as Roving Hitting Coach. DOUG DAVIS who led the Syracuse Chiefs the past two seasons will be the Roving Catching Coach, and RICK LANGFORD accepts the role as Roving Rehab/Pitching Coach
SCHNEIDER, moves up from hitting coach with the Gulf Coast Blue Jays into a managerial role at the same level. The 28 year-old, had a six-year minor league career with Blue Jays, spending parts of four seasons with Syracuse (AAA) of the International League. The former catcher was originally drafted in the 13th round of the 2002 draft.
CATHCART returns for a 4th season as manager and 2nd in New Hampshire. MALAVE continues for a 28th season in a Blue Jays uniform, including his 19th as a manager and 5th consecutive season in Dunedin. MCCULLOUGH will manage Lansing for the 2nd straight season and will be his 3rd overall as a manager, while HOLMBERG returns for a 19th season as a minor league manager in the Blue Jays system and 7th with Auburn.
MOTTOLA, moves into the roving hitting coach role, following his debut as the Gulf Coast Blue Jays hitting instructor. Prior to that, he enjoyed a 16-year pro career, including parts of five seasons in the major leagues. The former 1st round pick belted 249 home runs in the minor leagues, adding four at the Major League level.
