The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with RHP ARMANDO BENITEZ.
BENITEZ, 35, split last season between the San Francisco Giants and Florida Marlins of the National League. He was a combined 2-8 with an ERA of 5.37 and 17 saves in 54 games. The 6'4" 260 lb. right-hander has played for six teams spanning a 14-year career, highlighted by 289 career saves. He has recorded three seasons of 40+ saves, including 47 with the Florida Marlins in 2004.
