Jays add Dopirak, McCoy to roster

Third baseman claimed off waivers from Rockies

11/09/09 7:25 PM EST

TORONTO -- The Blue Jays added a pair of players to their 40-man roster on Monday, selecting the contract of first baseman Brian Dopirak from Triple-A Las Vegas and claiming infielder Mike McCoy off waivers from the Rockies.

Over 139 games between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Las Vegas last season, the 25-year-old Dopirak hit .317 with 27 home runs, 42 doubles and 102 RBIs. His strong offensive showing earned him an R. Howard Webster Award at Double-A -- an honor handed out to the most valuable player at each of Toronto's Minor League levels.

McCoy appeared in 12 games for Colorado last season, but he spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Colorado Springs. In 132 Minor League games -- mainly spent as a third baseman or shortstop -- McCoy hit .307 with two home runs, 27 doubles, 52 RBIs and 102 runs scored. The right-handed hitter stole 40 bases and finished the year with a .405 on-base percentage at Triple-A.
