Garko talks about gifts, time with family
Infielder hoping for Lakers hooded sweatshirt for Christmas
Ryan Garko is spending the better part of his offseason at his home near Phoenix, and he's been a regular at the Indians' new home-away-from-home in Goodyear, Ariz.
When he hasn't been scratching his head over the alarmingly poor play of his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team or keeping tabs on his equally beloved Los Angeles Lakers, Garko, who turns 28 on Jan. 2, has been working out regularly in preparation for the 2009 season. He's hoping to improve after an '08 season in which he batted .273 with 14 homers and 90 RBIs in 141 games for the Indians.
