ANAHEIM -- Aaron Hill was on hand at Angel Stadium on Saturday, but the Blue Jays second baseman was still held out of the starting lineup due to the mild concussion he suffered earlier this week.

Considering that Toronto has an off-day coming on Monday, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said there's a good chance Hill will sit out Sunday's finale in Anaheim as well. For now, Hill indicated that Toronto's medical staff has asked him to refrain from any baseball activity.

"I'm just following doctors orders," said Hill, standing inside the visitors' clubhouse. "This is the first time I've been honest with the trainers. If something is messing with the head, I don't want to mess with it. I'm just doing what they say.

"They shut me down. They said stay in here. They don't want me doing any activity, which [isn't] fun. I'm sure it's just for the next day or so."

It's possible that Hill will be cleared to man second base again for the Blue Jays as early as Tuesday, when Toronto opens a three-game series against the Yankees in New York. Until Hill is given the go-ahead to play, Marco Scutaro will continue to fill in at second.

On Thursday, Hill collided with shortstop David Eckstein during a play in the seventh inning in Oakland. Hill was struck on the head by one of Eckstein's elbows and had to be removed from the game. Initially, Hill didn't believe he'd have to miss any time.

"There were just some aftereffects that I didn't expect," Hill said.
