Twins at the plate: Minnestoa's first hit, a double by designated hitter Craig Monroe, came in the fourth inning. One batter later, right fielder Jason Kubel dumped a single to drive him in. Catcher Mike Redmond added another hit in the fourth. Monroe singled again and was lifted for a pinch-hitter later in the game.

Orioles at the plate: Third baseman Melvin Mora continued his torrid spring with a run-scoring double to deep left-center in the first inning, and left fielder Jay Payton doubled in another run in the second. Baltimore's third run scored on a fielder's choice by shortstop Brandon Fahey, and Fahey added a hit off Brian Bass in the fourth inning.

Twins on the mound: Nick Blackburn, who came into the game with four scoreless innings this spring, worked through three innings and gave up runs in two of them. Blackburn gave up two hits and walked two batters. Bass threw two scoreless innings, and Randy Kiesler and Juan Rincon both blanked the Orioles for an inning.

Orioles on the mound: Garrett Olson took eight days in between appearances and turned in his best outing of the spring on Thursday. The southpaw retired the first eight batters he faced and settled for three scoreless innings. George Sherrill gave up three hits and a run, and situational reliever Chad Bradford worked one scoreless inning.

Grapefruit League records: Twins 8-7; Orioles 7-6-2.

Up next for the Twins: The Twins will take on the Pirates on Friday in Fort Myers, Fla., and Boof Bonser will start against Pittsburgh's Ty Taubenheim. The game is scheduled to start at 12:05 p.m. CT.

Up next for the Orioles: The Orioles will send veteran Jon Leicester to the mound Friday in place of Adam Loewen, whose shoulder injury forced him to skip a start for precautionary reasons. Dennis Sarfate and Rocky Cherry are also expected to take the hill for Baltimore against the Red Sox in a road game scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. ET.
