TORONTO -- Forgive Robert Gray if he's a little out of the loop. A
lifelong Blue Jays fan, Gray just got back from a two-week vacation in a
cottage near North Bay. When he checked the AL standings, a lot had
changed for his favorite team.
"I watch pretty much every game on TV. I go to the website to check
scores and read the news," he said of his normal routine. "I didn't get
much news up there but I heard that the Blue Jays had lost 10 of 12
games. They hardly won any games while I was away."
With Gray in attendance, that trend changed on Saturday, when the Blue
Jays beat New York 10-3. Before he went to sleep on Friday night, Gray
entered the Daily Draw Sweepstakes on bluejays.com. Shortly after he
woke up, he got a call from the club telling him that he'd won.
"I was surprised," he said. "I had just entered before going to sleep.
What are the chances?"
Whatever the odds, Gray bucked them and won two free tickets for In The
Action seats. He was sitting in the second row behind the plate and
could see himself on every instant replay.
"My daughter is watching at home, so she'll see us," he said.
Besides that fringe benefit, In The
Action seats feature free food.
Being his first time in those seats, the Mississauga resident made a
rookie mistake.
"I didn't know, so we brought our own food with us," he said.
The final draw will be for Sunday's game. Fans started entering this
contest at 2 p.m. Saturday and it will close at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Fans
can enter up to 25 times each day.
