Scott seems to be heating up

Luke Scott has tried everything from extra video to new stances in an effort to pull out of a slump. And now, he may be ready to do that, but there are only two weeks remaining in the season.

Orioles probable pitcher

Mark Hendrickson

  • #27 LHP
  • (5-5) 4.47 ERA 55 SO
Hendrickson moved back into the rotation in place of Brian Matusz in the last rotation turn, and he pitched relatively well, considering that he was on a strict pitch count. The Orioles would like to hold Hendrickson, who hadn't started since mid-May, to around 75 or 80 pitches in his next turn. The southpaw has thrived as a reliever for the Orioles but has struggled in limited exposure as a starter.

Gaston: Wins will bring more fans

"The fans were coming out when we were winning," said Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston, whose club hosts the Orioles on Tuesday night. "They were supporting us. That's what we have to do."

Blue Jays probable pitcher

Brian Tallet

  • #56 LHP
  • (7-9) 5.31 ERA 111 SO
Tallet won two of his first three starts upon returning to the rotation on Sept. 1, but his last start, against the Yankees, ended after two innings because of a deep bone bruise sustained when he was struck on the foot by a sharply hit grounder off the bat of Robinson Cano. X-rays revealed no structural damage. Tallet allowed two runs in that abbreviated outing.
