On Sunday, June 14th over 50 families joined the Marlins Foundation at Marlins Park for the 3rd Annual Father's Day Play Catch event. Fans cheered on the Marlins as they took on the Rockies. After the game, families participated in a session of catch on the field, where guests were able to create lasting memories with their loved ones. Proceeds from this event benefitted the Marlins RBI (Reviving Baseball in inner Cities) Scholarship. In July 2015, the Marlins RBI Scholarship will be awarded to two Marlins RBI graduating seniors. This award was created to support student athletes who did not receive a full athletic scholarship, but possessed a desire to continue their academic education. The Marlins RBI Program is designed to promote interest in baseball, academic achievement and social responsibility in underserved areas of South Florida. Through this event, and other fundraising initiatives, the Marlins are able to supply the uniforms, umpires and equipment for more than 500 children. We hope to see you next year at Marlins Park for Father's Day!
