Draft shows impact of MLB diversity initiatives

Nine players with ties to the MLB Urban Youth Academy system were selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Dillon Tate, who went No. 4 overall to the Rangers, was the highest UYA player selected. Pablo Salazar (above), an 11th-round draft pick by the Cardinals, was the first player selected in Houston UYA history. Earl Burl III, taken in the 30th round by the Blue Jays, is the first draftee from the New Orleans UYA. Read more »
